Is Paint Included in the Estimate?
MV Painting Inc. includes the paint and materials in every written estimate — at wholesale cost, with no markup. That is the policy for every residential painting and commercial painting project our Calgary painters complete: you do not need to buy anything. We do not make money on paint: because we buy at wholesale prices, we usually get better prices than retail, and we pass our purchase cost straight through to you.
How paint is priced in your estimate
Included, at cost. Paint and materials are always included in the written estimate, at our wholesale purchase cost, with no markup. Upgrades are charged at cost, too. If you want to upgrade to a higher-quality paint, you are charged only the difference in price at our cost. The same applies to a low- or zero-VOC upgrade — see our low-VOC and zero-VOC paint options. Your brand, explained. We work with all major paint brands (Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, Cloverdale, Dulux, Behr and PPG), the brand choice is yours, and during your estimate we explain the characteristics of each paint so interior painters and exterior painters on our crew apply the best fit for your project. If you prefer to buy the paint yourself
If you prefer to buy the paint yourself, you can: we will deduct the paint cost included in the estimate from your total. In that case, our warranty covers our workmanship only — the paint product you supplied is your responsibility.
That distinction matters because product performance and application workmanship are two different things: our 2-year workmanship warranty covers peeling, blistering or flaking caused by how the paint was applied, and a client-supplied product stays the client's responsibility.
The same policy for homes and businesses
For homeowners comparing painters in Calgary or house painters in Calgary, that transparency matters: professional painters in Calgary should quote paint at cost, with no markup, so you pay for the work — not for a marked-up product. Commercial painters in Calgary should do the same, and MV Painting Inc. does. How an estimate is prepared — in person or starting from photos — is covered in our guide to whether a painter can quote from photos.
