Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing — Quarry Park, Calgary

A kitchen cabinet refinishing project in Quarry Park, Calgary: this kitchen’s dark espresso cabinets were refinished in a light, warm off-white — a full colour change without replacing a single cabinet. The doors and drawers were finished in our shop, the frames were sprayed on site, and the colour was custom-matched for the home.

The starting point

The kitchen’s cabinets were finished in a dark espresso brown — uppers, lowers and the island — a finish that made the room feel dark and dated. The cabinet boxes and doors were in good shape, so a full replacement wasn’t needed: a colour change was enough.

The work

The 18 doors and drawers were removed, labelled and taken to our shop, where they were degreased, sanded, primed with two coats on both sides and finished with a pre-cat lacquer. On site, the frames were degreased, the kitchen was fully masked — boxes, floors, countertops and appliances — and the frames were sanded, primed and finished the same way. The colour is a custom match: a Behr colour matched into a Cloverdale lacquer. Once the frames were complete, the finished doors and drawers were reinstalled.

Result

The dark espresso is gone, replaced by a warm off-white that brightens the whole kitchen — same cabinets, same layout, a completely different room.
