Basement Drywall Repair & Painting — Bearspaw, Calgary

A water-damage restoration in Bearspaw, Calgary: the damaged lower drywall came out along several basement rooms, the insulation and vapour barrier were replaced, new board went in and was finished smooth, and every repaired wall was repainted — with the baseboards reinstalled and painted to finish the rooms.

The starting point

Water damage had ruined the lower sections of drywall across the media room, hallways and bedrooms of this basement. The damaged board could not simply be patched — it had to come out so the walls could be rebuilt properly. Two sheets of mould-damaged drywall in the attic also needed to come out, and the entrance still had its old wallpaper.

The work

With the floors and fixtures protected, our crew removed the damaged drywall, installed new insulation and vapour barrier, and boarded the walls with new 1/2-inch drywall. Every joint was finished with a three-coat Level 4 process — taped, coated and sanded smooth, then checked under raking light. The repaired walls were painted in two coats of eggshell, and the baseboards went back on: nail holes filled, caulked, sanded and painted twice. In the attic, the damaged sheets were removed and replaced with new board finished paint-ready. At the entrance, the wallpaper was removed, the ceiling was sealed and painted flat white, and the walls were primed and painted.

Result

The basement reads as one finished space again — smooth walls, sharp trim lines, and no sign of where the water damage was.
